Haren, Papelbon, Reyes for Hamilton and Wright?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Fri May 14, 2010 8:13 pm

10 team, 5x5 points league, 30 man rosters, keeper league. I am 2-3 so far this year H2H.

I have been offered Dan Haren, Jonathan Papelbon and Jose Reyes for my Josh Hamilton and David Wright. Will this deal help my team and should I do it? He said he would do Manny or Soriano in place of Reyes but I think I would prefer Reyes. What do you guys think?

No way, I'd rather have Hamilton/Wright any day. Reyes is seriously slumping right now, I hate his batting approach out of the 3 hole. Paps is an elite closer no doubt, but you don't pay for saves like that. Haren is a first half ace, never been a big fan of his because he slumps so poorly in the 2nd half (and since you're a H2H league, that's exactly when you'll be needing him the most).

Ok, I was thinking the same thing actually. What if he added Manny and Soriano somehow in the deal?

Also, on a different note, in a different league that is roto 12 team, 5x5 dynasty league I have been offered Carl Crawford and Justin Verlander for Ryan Braun. Is that enough for Braun? Let me know. Thanks and leave your links.

I would not do the first deal even with the other guys but the second one is interesting. Depends on your team needs .You get a great pitcher but lose out on hr and rbi, even in runs but a jump in sb.I would think about that one.

No man, stop getting rid of your elite stud talents for struggling guys. Braun is a legit 5-tool beast.

Sounds like you got this figured out but I'm with the others - I make neither of these trades.

I have Reyes on my team and am concerned. I'd bench him if there was even a serviceable option out there.

I also have Braun and would need to be seriously overwhelmed to trade him. He contributes in nearly every category at an elite level.
