Let's fix this pitching staff, shall we?

Postby DRobCity » Fri May 14, 2010 7:20 pm

I'm in a H2H non-keeper league with standard scoring. Here is my pitching staff:

J. Lester
J. Vazquez
J. Lackey
W. Rodriguez
C. Buchholtz
J. Peavy
S. Baker
T. Lilly
D. Aardsma
K. Gregg

Here are the notable available pitchers I may be looking to pick up: Latos, Happ, Floyd, De La Rosa, Street, Floyd, Dice-K, Harang

1. Would you suggest that I drop any of my guys for any of those available.

2. Could I put together a trade giving two of these guys for an ace pitcher?

Thanks. I'll help you out as well if you ask.

I actually don't like any of the ones you're looking at picking up. Lester is your ticket, but your staff could use something more. I'm a huge Ervin Santana fan, I would try and trade for him. Maybe someone really wants Wandy and thinks he can bring it back? I suggest putting Wandy on your trading block and seeing what kind of offers you get. If you really want to roll the dice on De La Rosa or Latos, I wouldn't be against dropping Lilly. All three are unreliable and you're just flipping a three sided coin, but if you want to make a move then do it. Give us your offense and let's see if you're willing to trade anyone.

My advice mirrors the other two responses but I'd try to get rid of Lackey. Baker/Vaquez/Lackey could get you wins with their run support but they're likely getting you killed at ERA and WHIP. I might also see what you could get for Lilly because that Cubs team is going to be belly up by the end of July. You need 1 o 2 low ERA/WHIP guys on bad offensive teams. Think starters for teams like San Diego or Oakland.

Any help is appreciated.
