Trade Wright for 5 players? WHIR

Postby Dodgerbluesc » Fri May 14, 2010 2:16 pm

My Wright for his Berkman/R. Martin/A.J. Burnett/Alfonso Soriano/Kevin Kouzmanoff. I'm trying to compete this year and this seems to fill a number of holes for me.

I can also call up Freese from my ML instead of taking Kouz... But Freese is a free keeper for me next year if I keep him down all year.

Details below. WHIR.

8x8 roto scoring:
AVG, H, RBI, R, HR, D+T, BB, SB
ERA, W, QS, BB/9, K/9, H/9, Slg%against, S.
We start all 25 players. 12 team keeper league, 12 keepers per team plus 13 player ML system.
C McCann, $1.75
C Mathis, $2.00 (Kendall subbing)
1B LaRoche, $8.00
1B Helton, $8.00
2B Kinsler, $2.75
2B Callaspo, $2.00
3B Youkilis $4.00
3B Wright, $10.25
SS Bartlett, $0.60
SS Cabrera, $10.05
OF Lee, $8.05
OF Granderson, $2.75 (Barton subbing)
OF Ordonez, $4.35
OF Damon, $6.10
OF Snider, $0.25
UTL Span, $0.50
SP Lincecum, $2.75
SP Johan, $6.20
SP Anderson, $1.00 (Fister subbing)
SP Petitte, $2.10
SP Tim Hudson, $0.90
SP Nolasco, $2.75
UTL Myers, $2.00
RP Capps, $2.00
RP Bell, $15.00

I would hold onto Wright. He's the best player involved in the deal. I don't see how that trade benefits your team that much, besides maybe Soriano, who I think is playing over his head right now. The rest of your lineup seems fine.

Help on mine?

I presume you would have to drop 4 guys to clear roster space ... making it hard to say it is worth it in that case. I'd do a smaller deal to get a few bigger assets back, or hang onto Wright.

Ultimately Berkman will replace Helton, Martin will replace Mathis, soriano will replace Damon and A.J. Burnett will replace Brett Myers...

Knowing what the upgrades are, is it worth it?

I actually don't mind this deal at all. But I would take Freese over Kouzmanoff this year and any other, you can't think about free keepers next year if you want to win this year.

You get fairly good value and enough upgrade in other areas to make this worth it for me. 5 quality guys better than 1 really good player and some dead weight

I would not take this deal. I don't think the small upgrades, as stated above, are worth dropping from Wright to Kouzmanoff.

I would actually do it. I think it helps your team overall and I think Wright is one of the most overrated fantasy players. That being said he is still good but you are getting good value back. I Mean Martin is a clear upgrade, Burnett is a major upgrade in my opinion, and Berkman could put up similar numbers as Wright minus the SB when it is all said and done and he is a major upgrade over Helton. I would pull the trigger.

please help

I think you're getting too much scrap back for Wright. There's no marquee player coming back in return. Berk I guess would be the best one you'd get, but that's not saying much. Especially with the Astros futile offence this year.

I've been offered Freese & Dunn in 12 team keeper league, and I'm not even sure if that's enough for him.
