10 team mixed, pointss league(hits, BA, 2B, 3B, HR....INN, K, Wins, ERA, WHIP), keeper league, 30 man rosters
I am currrently 2-3 in the league and the leader is 4-1.
Here is the trade I have been offered:
HIs Chris Carpenter, Dan Haren, Jonathan Papelbon, Manny, and Soriano for My Billy Butler, David Wright, and Josh Hamilton. What do you guys think? And if not would you do it if I swapped out Manny or Soriano for Reyes.
Pure value I think you'd win in this deal. That said tho, I really can't see you doing it for the simple fact that you lose 2 CI players in the deal and don't get one back.
Right now you have Bulter, Wright, Youk and Cantu to play 3 positions, you lose Bulter and Wright you are left with Youk and Cantu to play 3 positions still. Not going to work. I love the pitching upgrade also, but again its not a real NEED on your squad right now as your top 3 are studs and your supporting cast can more then get the job done.
Only way I would do this deal is if you were to drop Butler from your side and Manny and Soriano from his. Leaving it Wright/Hamilton for Carps/Haren/Paps. Also if your confident enough in your 3 closers I would try to swap Papelbon out for a replacement OFer or CI. As it stands now tho I think you lose too much at your CI slots to do it, depending on whats left on the FA/WW. But I also don't like unloading a ton of big bats for big arms, especially when your staff is anchored with 2 top 5 arms.
I think you certainly get back enough in terms of value in this deal, but you can argue that elite players such as Wright command even more of a premium in leagues this deep. Youk is likely to lose his 3B eligibility as well, so you could be creating a long-term hole at 3B as well. If you do it, I'd much rather you get Reyes than Manny or Soriano, as I think he'll rebound and it seems as if Soriano's renaissance is due at least in some part to luck.
Gun to my head, I'd make the deal as long as it includes Reyes, but I am admittedly high on him rebounding and very low on Hamilton.
Not real crazy about the first deal. I'd like it better if Reyes was subbed for Soriano.
Seems like a pitching for bat deal. And it could be said that you are giving up the best three bats in the deal. Your top three pitchers are not bad, taking this deal would give you real nice depth.... however are you doing it at the expense of your offense.
