Heyward/Upton Trade

Postby Gator Bait » Wed May 12, 2010 10:57 am

Hello, new to this site and it looks very informative!

I have been offered Jason Heyward and John Lackey for Justin Upton.

It is a 12 team H2H 9X9 league with your usual 5X5 cats + OPS, 1b, 2B, 3B on offense and L, ER, QS, k/9 on the pitching side.

My lineup is the following:

C- Doumit
1B- Billy Butler
2B- Alberto Callaspo
3B- Longoria
OF- Justin Upton
OF-Shin Soo Choo
OF- Adam Lind
Util- Brett Gardner
Bench- Aramis Ramirez (ouch), Micheal Bourne, Jimmy Rollins, Brian Roberts.

Pitchers-
Matt Garza, Tim Hudson, Josh Johnson, Matt Cain, Ricky Romero, Scott Baker, Tyler Clippard, Rafeal Soriano, Nefli Feliz

DL- Erik Bedard

Despite some ugly production and injuries I have a winning record and am currently 4th place.

I figure that Justin Upton and Heyward won't be too different as far as production and Lackey could be another solid piece of my pitching staff (once he figures this whole Boston thing out).

Thoughts??

Honestly I think I would do it, Upton I feel has been the most overrated guy this offseason and I really feel his production wont be that much better than Heyward, if at all. And Lackey will eventually turn on, he has been off and on lately but he will eventually come around. i think I would do it. But don't take my word for it just yet

I too lean towards doing it -- Upton will get it going, but he does always seem to have a nagging injury or a cold streak that hedges me away from him some. Heyward will likely continue to feel more and more comfortable at the plate, and Lackey is too good not to get it going ... at bare minimum he is safe for on the road and at home against non-Yankee style offenses. Plus, he will get you wins once that offense kicks into gear a bit.

Thanks for answering mine. I agree with the posters above. I'd pull the trigger on that offer.

I agree. Upton had ONT good not great season and hes a superstar? NOT. Take it and run. Heyward has more upside than Upton in my opinion and Lackey is just bonus.
Both Uptons are OVERRATED in my opinion.
