Jayson Werth Trade Question

Postby mizzoucards529 » Mon May 10, 2010 3:40 pm

I'm thinking Werth's value will never be higher right now, so it would be the best time to trade him. I want to get a pitcher for him, who do you think I should aim for?

Liriano?
Hamels?
Cain?
Wainwright?

I'm thinking Wainwright is too high, but a guy like Hamels might be good. K's are huge in our league, and Hamels has been pretty good so far, but with room for improvement and consistency.

Thoughts?

I think youre undervaluing Werth. Wainwright is certainly within your grasps but id shoot a litter higher first. I think all those pitchers you named you can have.

I'm not sure the owner would accept Wainwright for Werth. I think the big thing is the name factor. You hear Jayson Werth, and you don't automatically think elite OF, even though he is. As for WW (especially in Cardinal country), we automatically think elite SP.

Plus, elite SP's are hard to come by, and usually are hard to get in a trade.

That's why I think a guy like Hamels, who could be an elite SP, but isn't one right now, would be a good target.

I just don't want to undersell for Werth, who's currently the number 3 OF in my league.

Werth is easily a Top 10 OF, Top-40 offensive player. I would not trade him straight-up for any of those guys listed except WW.
