My Greinke for Jacoby Ellsbury? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Mon May 10, 2010 12:31 pm

Do I deal my Greinke for Jacoby Ellsbury? I have been really struggling with stolen bases ... he would also probably make me a lock for singles and runs and help with triples. But can I afford to lose the SP depth? Do I just wait for Borbon to heat up?

12 Team H2H League with 6 keepers (a * means the 3-year keeper contract expires after this year -- most of the studs expire in our league after this season)

9 x 9 categories (R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG -- IP, CG, W, L, ER, ERA, K, SV, WHIP)

MY TEAM (pending completion of a recent deal):

C Brian McCann*
1B Albert Pujols*
2B Chase Utley*
3B Alex Rodriguez*
SS Jason Bartlett
OF Carl Crawford
OF Grady Sizemore
OF Andre Ethier
UT Carlos Lee
UT Alberto Callaspo
UT James Loney
BN Julio Borbon
BN David Ortiz

SP Roy Halladay*
SP CC Sabathia*
SP Zach Greinke

it's not exactly a bad deal when you factor in that as solid as greinke is in most categories, he's probably not gonna get very many wins with the royals sucking as bad as they do.

how has your team been doing thus far?

would you be hurt by having one less guy who produces great ERA, WHIP and K's?
and if so, would you able to find a decent replacement in free agency?

sorry for all the questions, but its difficult to answer this one without knowing more.

also, jacoby may still be out for another few weeks. can you afford to wait that long?

lil' help

I'd wait until Ellsbury is healthy to consider this deal. You may as well benefit from Greinke a bit longer, and you'll want to make sure Ellsbury is healthy before you deal that big an arm for him.

Help if you can?

I would do this deal in a heart beat.......ROYALS pen will continue to cost Grienke all season long. You can never have to much speed, if and when Borbon wakes the hell up :,-(

You have plenty of pitching. It may be worth the wait to see when Ellsbury will be back in the lineup, though.
