As a Red Sox fan, its all I can do to handle Beckett's stinkers in real life. To have him destroying my fantasy staff is just too much to bear. I've got an owner in my 5x5 al only 9 team roto league who needs some speed. I'm thinking of offering Beckett and Austin Jackson for Phil Hughes. I realize Jackson isn't going to lead the league in swipes but I figured the owner would be equally impressed by the offensive production. Is this trade offer completely out of line? My plan to fill in the outfield spot would be to pick up t. snider who's available on the waiver wire. Ideally, Vladdy will play a couple of more games in the OF to qualify in yahoo. Thank and WHIR.

The trade is only out of line if you feel Beckett will gain form sometime in the near future. If he doesn't drastically improve, you're trading him and an outfielder who is due for a slump for a pitcher who's been excellent. Hughes is on a great team, so if you believe in the ability, which I do, it's not a bad trade.
I'm actually considering trading Hughes from my own team, but it has nothing to do with his ability. I have a staff full of aces and need to trade some of that in for hitting. I actually picked Hughes up to replace Brett Anderson when he went on the DL, but I'm thinking about trying to pawn Anderson off now instead, because I'm believing in Hughes.
