I'm trying to find a trade partner who I can send pitching too in exchange for hitting. If I offer Phil Hughes for Casey McGehee, would that be a good deal for me? Is it something he would consider?
My team: C: Mike Napoli 1B: Kendry Morales 2B: Ben Zobrist 3B: Chone Figgins SS: Alcides Escobar MI: Martin Prado CI: Adam Dunn OF: Justin Upton OF: Adam Lind OF: Jay Bruce OF: Magglio Ordonez OF: Jose Guillen UTIL: Scott Podsednik BE: Julio Borbon, Alberto Callaspo
Pitchers: Felix Hernandez, Ubaldo Jimenez, Yovani Gallardo, Brett Anderson, David Price, Francisco Liriano, Phil Hughes, Jonathan Papelbon, Carlos Marmol, Neftali Feliz, Bobby Jenks
His team: C: Matt Wieters 1B: Joey Votto 2B: Howie Kendrick 3B: Pablo Sandoval SS: Derek Jeter MI: Elvis Andrus CI: Paul Konerko OF: Jason Bay OF: Jayson Werth OF: Carlos Lee OF: Michael Bourn OF: Kosuke Fukudome UTIL: Casey McGehee
Pitchers: Wandy Rodriguez, David Aardsma, Tim Hudson, Chris Perez, Heath Bell, Clayton Kershaw, Ricky Romero, CJ Wilson, Jaime Garcia, Javier Vazquez, Gavin Floyd, Mike Gonzalez
Is Hughes for McGehee a trade that could work? Or is there something better? I'd love to try and get Werth or Sandoval because I need help in the power categories, but I'm not sure what I'd have to offer.
IMO you lose on that deal. I've never been a big fan of McGehee, and Hughes is legit as a starter. Is your league a keeper or redraft? I might start by offering Hughes for Sandoval. This will probably get rejected, but at least the other team knows who you're really targeting. You can always work backwards.
I think Hughes is a better option than McGehee. I would definitely try to sell higher on Hughes if you are set on unloading him. I think Sandoval would be a good start, maybe try to get make a package to get Carlos Lee. He is a good buy low in my opinion.
I'm not really dead set on trading Hughes if there would be a better option. Would it be better to trade one of my other starters? Felix, Ubaldo, Yovani, Anderson, Price, or Liriano? They've almost all been great so far, and I figured I could afford to lose one.
Thanks for the help. I agree with Segan02. I think Mcgehee is good but Hughes appears to have come into his own this year. As always, playing for the Yankees makes him that much more valuable. Like Segan02 said I'd try to package him for Lee (as a buy low) first and see what happens. That said you really do have an amazing staff so you really can afford to package one of your starters for a premier offensive guy so if the Hughes Lee/Sandoval trade doesn't work out you could think of offering one of your other starters.
I would try to shoot a little higher with Hughes, or with any of the pitchers you have for that matter. You can also send some feelers out and see what others feel about Brett Anderson.
I feel like if I try to trade Anderson, I have to wait until he comes off the DL. If I was going to trade a starter, would you trade any of my other starters before Hughes?
