My Markakis for His Carlos Pena?

Postby felixthecat011 » Fri May 07, 2010 11:52 am

I need help at the corners with A Ram and Gordon Beckham both struggling (and I'd like to slide Becks over to 2B/SS).

I have plenty of OFs to cover my 5 active outfield roster slots: Holliday, C Gone, Vernon Wells, Colby Rasmus, Pierre and Hawpe.

The average scares me a little with Pena, but I'm thinking Markakis will be just average from here out and would like to "sell high".

Is this something I should do?

I think your paying too much by giving Markakis.... I think he is much better than Pena and wouldn't even be "selling high" on him because his power has yet to show this season. No I wouldn't do it.

I think you are paying too much as well. Pena will produce those big HR numbers to go along with his .230 average. Markakis is a solid fantasy player who is just starting to heat up.

I think you could probably do a little bit return for Markakis.

call me crazy, but i think markakis is vastly overrated (though solid) and if you can take the AVG hit, then I'd FAR prefer pena. HR/R/RBI monster, and in a contract year to boot markakis will likely end up .300 plus, with decent runs, but aside from pena's obvious AVG problems, he'll help you in more categories.

the average is my biggest concern, but i have guys like mauer and holliday on roster to help offset that.

if not markakis, how about brad hawpe for pena?

I think you can take the avg hit.

Also, as far as lineups go Rays >>>> O's

Go for it.
