Gio Gonzalez or Jhoulys Chacin? WHIR 100%

Postby Tony Micelli » Thu May 06, 2010 7:34 am

10 team. H2H League

Based on my Scoring Categories, Who would you rather have? And Why?

Is this finally the year that Gio puts it all together and lives up to his potential? Or should I go with the future stud in Chacin? I'm just not sure Chacin will stick in the rotation once all their pitchers come back healthy. Also, Brandon Morrow and Ian Kennedy are still out there.

Stats-Innings pitched, Wins, Complete games, Shutouts, saves, K's, ERA, WHIP, K/9, Quality starts, Holds
Hitters stats - runs, hits, doubles, triples, HR's, RBI's, Stolen Bases, Total Bases, AVG, OPS, Extra Base Hits

WHIR, Post Links!

I just nabbed Gio in my league so I think that's the way I would lean. Except for one start Gio's 5 starts have been really nice and his last two were impressive. Not to mention his k/9 will definitely help you.

I would stay away from Kennedy or Morrow right now for sure. Chacin could be something, but I agree about the rotation issue, pitching in that park, and the fact that his one good start this year came against the Giants.

Well, Id like to start by saying I am no H2H expert, but if i had to pick the better guy, Id take Gio. He's looked very good thus far, and although Oakland might be sketchy, he's been a bright spot in that PS, and should be a cog there or a long time. (plus, i know nothing of Chacin, heck, I thought you were talking about Gustavo Chacin, LOL)

Thanks for the help on mine, hope this helps!

Thanks for the help!

At this point I would choose Gio, I really like Chacin and see big things from him. However at this point of time Gio is more trustworthy. Morrow is getting monster k's too, keep an eye on him.

Gio is the way to go. Agreed with Morrow. His era is a bit high but k/9 is hard to pass on too. I just grabbed cecil so Ill see how his next start goes. If shit hits the fan maybe drop him for Morrow

I think it kind of depends on the rest of your pitching staff. I think Gio maybe help you with more catagories, while Morrow can really push up K/9 at the cost of WHIP. I'd probably hold off on Chacin at the moment, since he doesn't have a firm place in the rotation yet. If it is a keeper, you could take a gamble on him if u want.

Another vote for Gio, I'd add more but everyone else has covered it. Thanks for your input on mine.

thanks for the help!

I'd have to go with Gio on this one. Jhoulys might be great, but i think its hard to pull the trigger on him after just 1 start. He isn't even guaranteed the playing time Gio is, and Gio is looking very good. I'd grab GIo while you still can, but keep your eye on Jhoulys
