Drop Floyd for? - WHIR

Postby soty » Wed May 05, 2010 8:30 am

I'm thinking of dropping Gavin Floyd. I know he is known for being a slow starter, but I am not sure I see any reason to keep him on my team anymore. I already have a couple other struggling SP's including a teammate of Floyd's in Peavy. Although Peavy has seemed to figure things out lately. What do you guys think should I drop Floyd for any of the following SP's? I am leaning towards LeBlanc.

Livan Hernandez
Carlos Silva
Wade LeBlanc
Tom Gorzelanny
Carl Pavano
Ian Kennedy
Mitch Talbot
Kyle Davies
Mike Leake
Fernando Nieve
Clayton Richard
Jhoulys Chacin

FYI in order to do so I would have to drop someone else to activate Blanton since he is no longer on the real life DL. Leaning towards Kazmir since he is not the same pitcher he once was.

To sum up 2 questions really...

1) Do I drop Floyd and so for who? (see free agents above)
2) In order to add/drop someone I have to activate Blanton from the DL so who would you drop for him? Kazmir is who I think.

Thanks on helping my post. Out of that list of FA's I like Chacin the most. I know hes unproven, but the rest of the FA's don't appeal to me that much. I've never been a fan of Floyd so I might be biased but I would drop him and Kazmir for Chacin. I hope this helps! ;-D

I think I would keep Floyd over all of those guys. If you really don't like Floyd then I agree with the poster above that Chacin would probably be my favorite. But keep Floyd...

If your league doesn't count Holds then drop Bard, if it does than keep him and either drop Cecil (unless you really have faith in him) or like you said, Kazmir.

How big of a league is this, its crazy that you have H Ramirez, M Cabrera, AND E Longoria....

Yeah I was looking at Chacin too just not sure what to expect from him and that ballpark always scares me.

Hmm didnt expect too many people to say keep Floyd. I just havent seen anything from him. I dont want to miss out of potential break out pitchers while I weigh if I should or shouldnt drop him you know. I know he has been known to wake up after the first month or so, but with the staff I have I am not sure I can wait that long? As for Cecil just dropped Dice K for him and yeah I am believer right now so he will be staying put for now. Lastly I got Ramirez this year in a trade, 2 years ago in a trade and Longoria I drafted.

I would drop Floyd and Kazmir and pick Leake he has the most upside off that list.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

I'm worried about Leake though as he has never pitched in the minors and lacks experience at any level besides college ball. I'm not trying to jack your thread but Rukus, do you think that he is more valuable than someone like his fellow teammate Cueto?

I would keep Floyd. He had a 7.78 era well into May last year. He just has to get that bite to his curveball back.

Thanks for the help with mine, the Kazmir drop for Blanton is a good call, as for the Danks issue, well if your league allows daily streams then I might drop him for whomever is a Probable starter that day that looks to have a good outcome, I do that with my teams and it seems to help my pitching alot

Its Floyd I am thinking of dropping and we have a move limit so streaming is not an option.
