Blockbuster Trade? WHIR

Postby wrightinflight » Wed May 05, 2010 8:19 am

Firstly, I was looking to acquire some power bats to my lineup because it is pretty pathetic. I was really interested in Votto because I have an unproven Smoak at 1st, along with acquiring a power OF in Lind. What I was initially thinking was:

EDIT:

My Utley, Ichiro and Sizemore for
His Votto, Longoria and Lind

I know this is ambitious but I need to make moves. Is this giving up too much? I feel that Utley is a wash with Longoria so it essentially comes down to Ichiro and Sizemore for Votto and Lind. I am inclined to like the latter over the former in this case. Thanks in advance and leave a link!

My Team:
c- doumit, 1st- smoak, 2nd- utley, 3rd- headley, ss-furcal, lf-span, cf-sizemore, rf-ichiro, util-pence, util-abreu, bn-bourbon, dl-ellsbury

sp: lee, wandy, nolasco, baker, marcum, cecil, garcia, chacin, duchscherer, zambrano DL: webb, anderson, young
rp: none (i have to punt saves b/c i took over for a manager who had nathan and a couple bum rp's)

His Team:
c- buck, 1st-votto, 2nd-hill, 3rd-longoria, ss-tulo, lf-lind, cf-hamilton, rf-ethier, util-alexi ram., util-ike davis, bn-fowler, bn-j. lopez DL: cruz

sp: jiminez, shields, hudson, pavano, niece, gorzelanny, myers, talbot, c.j. wilson DL: de la rosa
rp: wagner, rauch

If you can get that deal it would help your power numbers for sure. Like you said you give up the best player in the deal in Utley, but imo after that you only lose a guy with SBs/AVG in Ichiro and Abreu is not a big loss when you get Votto/Lind in return. I like this for you so I say go for it.

I would pass. I think you're giving up too much. If you're going to give up Utley you need to get Longo or Tulo at least back in return.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

I agree, I think you're giving up too much. As said above I would only do the deal if you get a first round talent like Tulo or Longoria in return. Ubaldo is also a good player to target.

well my point is to trade utley as the best player in the deal to get a diversification in power in return. i simply need more stats across the board. does utley/ichiro for longoria/votto or lind make more sense?

I'd have to agree with everyone else and say that if you're going to give up Utley, try to get some high end talent in return with Longoria. I think you'd have a hard time pulling off Utley/Ichiro for Longoria/Votto, which the person before me suggested, but I'd still try to shoot for something along those lines.

i wouldnt do it at all, I like Utley too much because he is pretty consistent, I am still not sold on Votto, even though everyone else is, Aaron Hill is decent right now, had a great year last year, and the same is with Lind...but I wouldn't do it, there is nothing to really push me over the edge with saying do it.
