Position Eligibility on ESPN

Postby gocards » Tue May 04, 2010 1:22 pm

I am in a couple of ESPN leagues and have found something troubling, hopefully I can get an answer here.

They don't seem to track eligibility changes for pitchers. According to the rules:

Positional Eligibility for Pitchers
Additional positional eligibility for Pitchers occurs when one of the following conditions is met:

* Pitching appearances last season: 5 starts / 8 relief
* Pitching appearances during current season: 3 starts / 5 relief

On the Eligibility page both Carlos Zambrano and Alfredo Simon both show as SP with no relief appearances at all. They do show Kyle Lohse having appeared in a game as a LF though.

Does anyone know if SPs can gain eligibility as RPs, or the other way around?

Pitchers can gain SP or RP during the season, but there's no hard and fast number like hitters have for when it happens..basically it's when ESPN feels like adding it.
