First time roto leaguer seeking help

I've moved up into the "big leagues" in fantasy baseball, you know the one... Your dad and his retired friends that sit around all day making trades and know every stat about every player off the top of their heads, and so with that I'm lost here. The last fantasy baseball league was a 6 person college head to head for drinking money type thing.
Anyway, heres my team: its a 12 person Rotisserie league

I'm looking to possibly add Livan Hernandez at the moment and wondering if I should drop Ben Sheets. I have a feeling he wont be that bad later in the season, and If I drop him I'll lose out on his better performances.

well one issue is Batting average not one player besides Coghlin is a constant .300 hitter (and even he is struggling) and alot of low average hitters. Only on real speed threat, homers are decent. I would try to trade Coghlin, McLouth, and Ibanez for a big bat.

Pitching looks great especially since everyone is starting to wake up now

so you dont think I should dip into FA for either the guy I was going to pick up, or another bat?

I've set my trading block to the guys you suggested and hopefully (probably not) I'll receive a trade offer. The main problem I have with fantasy baseball is that I live on hockey. I played it throughout school, as a kid, and watch multiple teams. I know every player and his worth, so making trades and whatnot is easy for me there. Here on the other hand...aside from the top 10 players, I have no idea their worth. Who should I target to get me some hits, rbis, and hrs? (based on your suggested trad able players)
