Trade help!

Postby fangthe7th » Mon May 03, 2010 8:44 pm

I'm in a 10 team 5x5 roto league on ESPN and I drafted KRod and grabbed kevin gregg off of waivers. I was considering trading Halladay for Santana and Valverde and since its my first year I'm not really sure about the trade value here. Am I being foolish and hasty or should I sit pat and wait for closers on the waiver wire?

My team: http://games.espn.go.com/flb/clubhouse? ... sonId=2010
SP: Roy Halladay, Josh Johnson, Roy Oswalt, Scott Baker, Chad Billingsley, Gavin Floyd, Hiroki Kuroda
RP: KRod, Kevin Gregg, Evan Meek

His team: http://games.espn.go.com/flb/clubhouse? ... 0&teamId=9

My reasoning is that instead of having one ace, I would have two tier two pitchers in Josh Johnson and Santana, two potential good starters in Baker and Oswalt, two high upside pitchers in Billingsley and Floyd, and Kuroda while Floyd and Baker settle down. Is it worth it to downgrade my SP for extra saves?

Just talking to him, he counter-offered Matt Capps and Santana for Halladay.

Or possibly for Ryan Franklin?

I don't trade Halladay unless I am getting first round value back. He is untouachable right now. Sanatana can't hit 90 on the gun right now. Is it me or is his career heading in a similar direction to Pedro's?

If I were you , I'd be looking to deal Billingsley. A lot of people are still pretty high on him despite his consistent underachieving.
Also, work the waivers. Keep an eye on the news for closers in danger of losing their jobs and gamble on picking up their backups. I bet you find a closer or two in the next month via this methond.
