Dynasty League Trade Help

Postby MaximeGravel » Mon May 03, 2010 6:43 pm

I'm in a dynasty roto league with deeeeeeep bench.

Someone just propose me Phil Hugues and Bumgarner for J.Santana.

I love young players with upside in dynasty league...

So what's Hugues and Bumgarner value ?

I read that Bumgarner velocity is down since last september and he never gain it back ... ?
Was it a change in his motion ? injury ? Why a guy who was trowing at 96MPH can't reach 90MPH now ?

And hugues, I know he wont keep and ERA of 1.44. But what do you except from him ?

As I see it, I receive two young pitchers on the rise in exchange for an aging and declining elite pitcher.

Thanks.

I don't like it. I think you could get a better deal than two youngs guys with lots of question marks. If you want young talent I would look at Brett Anderson, Gallardo, Kershaw or Matusz. These guys aren't starting off with the greatest of starts so they might be had for a decent price.

I agree. I think that despite their upside you still need to have a solid rotation guy for the season that may be declining but only by so much. This trade would make a lot more sense in July and who knows, maybe by then Hughes' or Bumgarner's might be lower. I think you hang onto Santana here and resist the temptation.
