I think I need an ace, and someone is offering up Sabathia for a big bat.
I can't figure out what to offer, knowing that Kemp and Braun are out of the question. He was fishing for Cruz, but I don't think I want to go there, either, unless you guys think it is worth it.
Would you all please take a look at my roster and offer suggestions?

If you don't want to offer kemp or Braun, which i totally understand .. it seems to me your only other Big Bat options would be Wright, Utley or N. Cruz.
Personally, I'd trade Wright straight up for Sabathia. If you really want an ace that badly .. you know you're going to have to give up something good in return. If you can't get a 1 for 1 deal ... I guess you could do like a wright and another player for Sabathia and another player, to try and even things out.
I guess part of my question should be- do I need Sabathia? Wright or Berk are really the only two I am willing to offer (one of them). I may try Berkman, and if that doesn't do it, abandon the deal.
I would be surprised if he trades Sabathia for Berkman given the previous injury. You would almost have to combo Berkman with someone to pull that off. If you could sell high on Konerko with Berkman then he should probably give up Sabathia and maybe some change. Either way, for you to feel good about it will probably need to be Wright for Sabathia or Berkman/+ for Sabathia.
As for your real need for Sabathia, I don't think you reeeeally have one. However, since this is a keeper league it would be quite something to have CC for next year. That said, taking Berkman out, no matter how old he is, would make you fill in your 1B spot with Cantu, Konerko or Jones. That is doable. Sending off Wright would leave you with Cantu at 3B for the year, which could be risky given he's a bit over his head right now. I'd be a little worried about your infield with this trade.
After all this, I personally would hold off on Sabathia. I think Gallardo/Nolasco/Hamels/Bills and Matusz should get the job done. Try Berkman straight up (which he'll probably reject) but you're right, it might be best to resist the temptation. Good luck.
Thanks, Spuds. I offered Berk and Billingsly, and he acted like I had insulted him. I admit it may not be enough for CC, but I also think he is seriously undervaluing Berkman. He wants Cruz or Kemp, but I'm just not going to go there. He needs my bats more than I need his arm.

Well there it is. Unless you really needed an arm you would have likely done a Cruz for CC straight up (which I think is pretty good, btw). I also think the Berk/Bills for CC is quite fair, but he might be trying to get a more reliable, young bat that may or may not decline this season on a poor team. I think you're fine.
Oh, man... I'm so tempted to give Cruz to get CC. In fact, there is another guy in the league who I think might give me Halladay for Cruz. Do you think I should do it? I'm paranoid that Cruz doesn't get his groove back after the DL stint.

I wouldn't worry about Cruz and his groove, but I would worry more that you may need to trade the big arm for a big bat down the road. Your young power guys are Braun, Kemp, Wright, Utley and Granderson. Berkman and Konerko are older but will get their homers. If those guys are enough for you, then do the trade. If you are worried about the older guys and think Cruz is needed to fill the gap, then don't do the trade. Or ... sleep on it, see how you feel tomorrow.
Your pitching is not as bad as you might think, hopefully hamels gets back to form..You have a solid offense, but I would trade cruz due to his injury risk but he is a beast..You can sell high on konerko and add in one of your pitchers, or berkman and a pitcher. Understand your hesitant on trading braun or Kemp, but if cruz is healthy he is as valauble as them..
