Struggling Team, Panic?

Postby pep1285 » Sun May 02, 2010 11:12 pm

I am currently in a 6*6 H2H 8 Team League. I have been struggling greatly the last two weeks winning about 5 categories combined. I could use some advice on if is should upgrade on certain positions via trade or via free agency. Here is my team:

C: Mauer
1B: Ryan Howard
2B: Utley
SS: Andrus
3B: Reynolds
OF: Mccutchen
OF: CarGO
OF: Brett Gardner
UTIL: Adrian Gonzalez
UTIL: Billy Butler

Bench Hitters: Rasmus, Polanco, Beckham, DL: Granderson

Starting Pitchers: WainWright, Liriano, Nolasco, Burnett, Peavy, Hamels, Buchholz

Closers: Valverde, Lindstrom

Here are some notable free agents at each position:

1B: Derek Lee, Paul Konerko
2B: Uggla, Kelly Johnson
3B: Michael Young, Chase Headley
SS: Furcal, Ryan Theroit
OF: Gutieerez, Ibanez, Carlos Lee, Ludwick,
SP: Danks, Romero, Phil Hughes
RP: Bobby Jenks, Leo Neunez

Any advice on what to do? All your advice is appreciated.

What are the extra cats?

Peavy is killing his owners, but I'd try to hold on there. Polanco and Beckham give you the same position eligibility, it seems like overkill to carry them both on the bench. Maybe a bit of overkill on speed, although I like all those steals guys (Andrus, McCutchen, Gonzalez, and Gardner). Of the fas, I like Danks, and it wouldn't hurt in such a small league to carry Nunez as a 3rd closer. A lot of good hitters there.

But a good team overall. No panic, maybe just a couple moves.

I would drop Peavy for Hughes/Danks. And I would try to get D. Lee or Konerko hitting in your Utility spot over Butler. Also I would pick up Gutierrez and start him over Gardner.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

Extra Categories are OBP and K/9. Anymore opinions?
