Beckett for Garza, WHIR

Postby BigDunn » Sun May 02, 2010 9:50 pm

10 Team, Re-draft, 5x5 roto league with a 1250 inning limit. I've been offered Josh Beckett for Matt Garza and Franklin Morales. I have 5 closers and am first in saves so with Street coming back, Morales' value is negligible. Let me know what you think, thanks.

Roster:
C M.Wieters
1B M.Cabrera
2B D.Pedroia
3B A.Ramirez
SS D.Jeter
OF M.Kemp
OF N.Markakis
OF H.Pence
UT J.Votto
UT K.Johnson
BN: J.Pierre, J.Smoak, M.Montero, C.Beltran
SP: D.Haren, J.Verlander, M.Garza, Jer.Weaver, B.Penny, J.Vazquez, S.Strasburg, E.Bedard
RP: B.Wagner, R.Franklin, B.Jenks, M.Lindstrom, F.Morales

I like Garza a lot, but I think getting Beckett is a good move. This way you get something for Morales who soon will have no value.

At this point I'm more of a fan of Garza than Beckett so I would stay put.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

Even though Morales may not have much value to you, I would think you could deal him to someone who needs saves to get a little more out of him. Going from Garza to Beckett doesn't seem to be much of an improvement if at all. Garza really improved his K/rate last year and is looking great so far this year, and he should win a lot more than the 8 won last year since the Rays have a great offense and a solid closer now.
