Somebody just dropped him (Javier Vazquez) in my 12 team H@H 5x5 league and I have #1 waiver priority. Should I pick him up?? If so... Drop Matusz or Slowey?
I like the idea of grabbing Vazquez, because he has nowhere to go but up from here and he can still be used as an above-average starter... but to tell you the truth, it's looking like Matusz and Slowey will have much better seasons than he will. I wouldn't make any switch.
OK, I ended up picking up C. Buchholz off from waivers and dropping Matusz. Thus giving up my waiver priority of #1 and leaving Vazquez on the wire. Which leaves me with this when finished.
C: Martin 1B: Votto 2B: Uribe SS: Tulowitzki 3B: Sandoval OF: Damon, A. Jones, A. Jackson Util: Hamilton, Heyward(only start vs Righties) BN: Gardner(only start vs Righties) DL: Ellsbury SP's: Lincicum, W. Rodriguez, Hanson, Slowey, Kazmir, Peavey, Weaver, Garcia, Buchholz, and Duchscherer. CL's: Cordero and Fuentes
I still have a couple of hours... what does everyone think?
I don't understand why people are saying to dump Slowey. He's gotten off to a terrific start, had a great spring, and has such astonishing control. Sure, he gives up his fair amount of homers, so his ERA might not low 3s, but I'd wager it's below 4 this year, with an excellent WHIP and tons of Ws and a good amount of Ks. I'd much rather have him than Vazquez or Kazmir, to be honest.

I agree for the most part. I would rather have Vazquez though than Kazmir. So, if you want Vazquez' K's and W's, drop Kazmir.
