Wrong. The Giants do have a prospect ccloser, his name is David Aardsma, former closer for Rice. The kid looks pretty promising, and I wouldn't be surprised to see thim up with the big club next season. He is the Giants closer of the future.
Don't laugh at the Giants prospects, wrveres Merkin Vladez will be making Giants fans ask "Russ Ortiz who?" within the next year or so
He may be a major league closer in the making but he's not gonna see any daylight in 2004. Even if Herges and then Rodriguez stunk up the joint it's more likely that the Giants will try to punk someone they can get for cheap like Beck from another team or convert an experienced middle reliever to a closer before a minor leaguer gets the bid.
Bluto: Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

That's not what was asked. He asked if the Giants had any prospect closers, and you said no. However, they do have one. Matt Cain could also be a possible closer down the road.

Do you think the prospects he mentioned can be brought along to cover for Nen's injury this year? No.
Do they have prospects that may or may not close games for the Giants or some other major league team at some point in the future? Yes.

If you lived in the bay area, you would know that there was some scuttlebutt going around of Aardsma possibly being brought up in August, if Nen isn't up to stuff and Herges struggles. Vladez has also been talked about as going to the pen this year.
Nen owners shouldn't jump off the bridge yet. SF is firm in saying he has not sufferred a setback. Giants are publicly saying both Nen and Schmidt are going to be fine (although not neccessarily by opening day). At least from the local radio it seemed like the Giants were downplaying this.
It could all be lipservice of course. Both Nen and Herges should probably be owned obviously (if you have room) until it gets resolved more clearly.

Cordero Ayala (if biddle screws up) Nathan (lookin bad in spring training) Speire (still not guaranteed closer role)
Who should I drop to pick this guy up? Ive only heard good things about him.
At least you do have Cordero. Provided that's Francisco Cordero anyway. Zimmerman had yet another setback so he's most certianly out of the picture again. Ft. Worth Star Telegram had a great big article about how Cordero should do well this year since the job is officially his and there's no one to take it away from him. Jeff Nelson is now second in line to get the role if for some reason Cordero can't do the job or gets hurt.
