I feel the need to trade... (WHIR)!!

Postby MrAccoe » Tue Apr 27, 2010 12:54 pm

12 team - 7 keepers - Standard 5x5 scoring - H2H League (Category Wins) - Currently sitting in 3rd.

C - Chris Snyder
1b - Billy Butler
2b - Jose Lopez
3b - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Stephen Drew
LF - Matt Holliday
CF - Vernon Wells
RF - Matt Kemp
UTIL - Hunter Pence
Bench - Grady Sizemore

SP - Zack Greinke
SP - Ricky Nolasco
SP - Brad Penny
SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Kevin Correia
SP - Shaun Marcum
RP - Joakim Soria
RP - Frank Francisco
RP - Matt Lindstrom
RP - Chris Perez
RP - Tyler Clippard
DL - Joe Blanton

I'm looking to trade some offense to get better starting pitching. I don't want to give up anyone but it looks as though Kemp may be my best trade bait. Thoughts?

Vernon Wells might bring back some significant value if you can get people to believe that April hasn't been a fluke. I'd be cautious about giving up Kemp unless I got an absolute stud in return.

Might want to try and dangle a guy like Sizemore and pray that someone believes he will become his old self again. Package a guy like him and Kershaw and try and get an Ace level pitcher, maybe a Lester or a Johnson. You may have to go bigger though and give up a guy like kemp and try and get two good pitchers

I think your pitching is fine. Greinke's an ace, and I (and most people) still think Nolasco will turn into one this year.

You don't have anybody who screams "sell high" to me, except Wells if anyone will bite. I think you're probably stuck with Sizemore for better or worse, unless you want to trade him for Alcides Escobar or something. All in all, I think sanding pat is the way to go.

I agree with Charlatan that your pitching looks solid. However, and others will probably disagree (to put it lightly), I've considered packaging ARod in the public league that I play in. He's 35, ex-PED user who's seen declines in all power categories the last two years. Granted where he's dropping from means that he's still better than most other 3b options but I still think that his glimmer outshines his value and that there is a high likelihood that someone will overpay. Now when he drops 45 homers and 120 rbis, I'm going to be eating this post but I think it's a good gamble. Any thoughts on this post viewtopic.php?t=410033

I've actually considered trading A-Rod, even last year, but his value was quite low though. But thanks for all the input, I didn't realize that it was pretty much my pitching carrying me thus far so I think I can make some minor moves but nothing major.
