29-6-1 on the season....how?!

Postby tinfoilxtouch » Tue Apr 27, 2010 5:57 am

Okay guys, so help me out here and let me know if this team can actually contend with this bizarre patchwork hitting being held up by my pitching staff. I was in the draft room and each time my pick came around, there was a pitcher left who should be off the board already- so this is what I ended up with. Post your link and I'll be more than happy to respond in return. Thanks!

Basic 10 team H2H, 6x6 (OPS & K/BB 6th stats)

C- Mauer
1b- Pena
2b- Stewart
3b- Headley
SS- Tejada
OF- Magglio, Hideki Matsui, Josh Willingham
Util (2 spots)- Cuddyer, Bay
BN- Kubel

SP- Lincecum, Haren, Hammels, Oswalt, Zito, Garza, Lester, Hughes, Price, Sheets
RP- Rivera, Papelbon
DL- Lidge

Wow so you do have ridiculous pitching. Your offence seems solid too, but i think your lacking on speed. I might try and move Miggy and/or Headley for some more speed at those positions, as they are both off to a hot start. Other than that i really like your team.

Unbelievable pitching. Ur great there. U should probably look for a more solid infielder though by trading up on of your pitchers.

Your pitching does look terrific, but your hitting isn't as terrible as you might think, though it is still somewhat uninspiring. I suggest, like the other posters, that you trade pitching for hitting. I think Phil Hughes is a perfect "sell-high" candidate. I have him in another league, and I like him as much as the next guy, but it's unlikely he'll keep up his ridiculous production. Aside from the fact that he's entirely unproven and inexperienced in the major leagues in the role of SP, he has allowed far too many walks. I'm sure some owner will be tantalized and overvalue his potential ... in other words, now's the time to sell him. Maybe try a 2-for-1, where you package Hughes and one of your hitters for an offensive upgrade.
