Longoria for Howard? WHIR

Postby OnceinDC2\1 » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:41 am

So this dude in my league wants to deal Howard for Longoria. I took Longoria 7th overall in an OPS league because I didn't think I'd have a shot at Reynolds. I somehow got them both, slotted reynolds in 1B and also have Beckham at 2B. It looks like Howard has been fairly cold so far and is projected to hit more HRs, have a higher OPS, and score more runs and steal about 8-9 fewer bases. Any reason NOT to do this?

12 Team Mixed Roto: R, H, HR, RBI, OPS, SB, W, SV, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP

C- Chris Snyder
1b- Mark Reynolds
2B- Gordon Beckham
3B-Evan Longoria
SS-Elvis Andrus
OF: Jayson Werth, Nelson Cruz, Jay Bruce
Util: Carlos Gonzalez, Adam Laroche
BN: Miguel Montero (DL)

SP: Felix Hernandez, Yovani Gallardo, Ricky Nolasco, Brandon Webb (DL), Chris Young (DL), Justin Duchscherer

RP: Jose Valverde, Chad Qualls, Mike Gonzalez (DL), Daniel Bard, Pat Neshek, Franklin Morales, Mike Adams, Sergio Santos, Juan Gutierrez

Tough choice- but I think Howard should be a good addition. He is a Top-3 1B.
If it's a shallow league I could see that you pull the trigger.
If it's a keeper league I would think about it twice.

M.Reynolds is 1B/3B right?
It would be nice to know what you did with our advice - so please write a short reply

because OPS is substituted for avg, you absolutely do that. howard will outperform longo in hr/rbi, most likely runs, but the kicker with howard is the bad avg, but since thats not a cat. here, he is a complete stud. do that deal and slide reynolds to your 3b.

help with mine?

Definitely. Howard will finish as a top 3 player this year.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5
