Add Jeff Niemann? Keep Pudge & Napoli?

Postby Chicago 2 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 12:33 pm

Questions:

Jeff Niemann was just dropped, should I use my #3 waiver on him? I will get him since the 2 managers ahead of me are not very active in free agency.

Also, who should I drop? I'm assuming many will say Rodney, however I'd like to see how Fuentes does coming off injury and his effectiveness cause Rodney was great last week. I'm thinking Desmond.

Do I need both catchers? I'm thinking of dropping either Naps or Pudge to stash Carlos Santana.

Here is my roster, not sure who to drop:

C Mike Napoli
1B Billy Butler
2B Chase Utley
3B Evan Longoria
SS Troy Tulowitzki
OF Nelson Cruz
OF Jacoby Ellsbury
OF Carlos Gonzalez
Util Magglio Ordonez

BN Jay Bruce
BN Pudge Rodriguez
BN Ian Desmond
BN Cameron Maybin

SP Johan Santana
SP Ricky Nolasco
RP Chris Perez
RP Franklin Morales
P Fernando Rodney
P Matt Garza
P Brian Matusz

BN Wandy Rodriguez
BN Stephen Strasburg
DL Kerry Wood
DL Brad Lidge

Thoughts?

I also am entertaining trading Garza & Bruce or Butler to upgrade at OF or 1B, I generally don't like having 2 pitchers from same team.

Niemann is good but I'm just not sure I'd be willing to burn a #3 waiver on him especially this early in the season. If you're in a league that's not THAT active then you might stand a chance of being able to just pick him up once he clears waivers. If you do decide to claim him off waivers I'd personally drop Ian Desmond.
