Which 2 to start: Hamels, Lackey, Romero, Sheets

Postby mcliffy2 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:10 am

Right now I have Lackey and Romero going cause Hamels just hasn't been pitching well. Sheets has 2 starts, the others just 1, and I'm on a HtH pts league that awards QS as well as W, so I'm almost considering starting him instead of Lackey (otherwise he wouldn't be with these three), but the matchup v. TB scares me a bit. Which two of these should I start?

Might also help if I post my options:

We have four SP and RP. Right now I have Aardsma and Rauch benched and am starting Hughes (2 starts) in my RP spot. I could move him to a SP slot, start Aardsma or Rauch and

Right now I have my lineup as:

SP: Romero, J. Johnson (2 starts), F. Liriano (2 starts), Lackey
RP: Hughes (2 starts)

Bench: Sheets (2 starts), Hamels, Aardsma, Rauch

It seems to me that you have the best possible starting rotation, although I'd give Sheets another look... he has pitched well and battled, despite being low on Ks and a bit high on BBs.

I think you should get Rauch into your lineup though, Saves are big in H2H.

The potential from a RP is not nearly as high as a 2-start pitcher in our scoring format. A pitcher who has one good-great QS will equal a RP who has 2-3 solid saves...would you bench Lackey or Romero in favor of Rauch? Hughes, Johnson and Liriano, are all locks as 2-start pitchers...

Well I guess you have the ultimate understanding of your format. I was just saying that in general it's not a good call to have a 2.00 era closer who's racking up saves sit on the bench.

It seems you've got this pegged though. Best of luck to you.
