Few Questions to Clean up my Roster- WHIR

Postby yankeekd25 » Sun Apr 25, 2010 9:16 am

I was fortunate to pick up Rickie Weeks to play second base when Kinsler went down. However, now that Kinsler is getting close to returning, I have a dilemma on my hands. I don't want Weeks wasting away on my bench, or taking up a roster space if/when Kinsler does what he normally does, and I'd want to try to get some value for him. However, as we all know Kinsler misses three weeks with a hangnail...

Is it better just to keep Weeks as insurance or try to get something for him, i.e. upgrade SS?

Also, is it worth just keeping Beltran stashed in my DL spot? A lot of my players are prone to injury and I have Beltran monopolizing the one DL spot. There are a few pitchers I want to pick up on the WW, but I don't have any room:

Penny
Pettitte
Gregg

Here's my team:
C- B. Molina
1B- Berkman
2B- Weeks/ Kinsler
3B- A-Rod
SS- Tejada
OF- Ethier
OF- Magglio
OF- Lee (for Manny)
Util- Matsui
BN-Manny
DL-Beltran

SP- King Felix, Wainwright, J. Santana, Hanson, Verlander, Romero, Duschererer
RP- Cordero, Jenks, Fuentes

Thanks guys. Leave a link

Kinsler is a beast, no doubt about that. I've got him too. But I don't think you can afford to carry two 2nd basemen. See if you can't trade Weeks for something, anything.

Yea see if you can trade Weeks for anything before Kinsler comes back. If not drop him when Kinsler is healthy.

I'm a big fan of R.Weeks and liked his performance last season until his injury. I don't think you should drop R.Weeks right away. Kinsler needs some time to get the "vibe" and 2B is always a big need. Wait for the right offer.
I wouldn't drop Beltran- I think he has some value in the 2nd half of the season-if he contributes and is hot -you can trade him (because of his injury-risk).
It would be nice to know what you did with our advice - so please write a short reply

The problem is you have two injury prone 2B I really like Weeks this year he looks really patient at the plate but lets be honest he's not Kinsler. I would ride out the Weeks train until he slumps then switch to Kinsler. You can try and trade Weeks but i dont think you will get much for him given his past injury history for some reason nobody i talk to is a believer in him. Overall good team especially the pitching staff i dont think you need to drop Offense for more pitching right now.

I think Weeks will surprise a lot of people this year.

I would recommend a different tactic: Trade Kinsler for a top of the line SS, and drop Tejada for Penny or Gregg (don't pick up Pettitte).
