Haren/G. Jones for Ethier?

Postby Thursday » Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:01 pm

Hey Cafe,

I was just offered this trade:

I get:
Dan Haren
Garrett Jones

- for -

Andre Ethier

So far, I'm leaning away from this trade, as I believe Ethier is a bona-fide star in the making. Still thought I'd bring it here for a few differing opinions. Here's my roster and league specs:

12-team, H2H, 6x6 league (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., OPS. for hitters, and W, SV, K, Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitchers).

Keeper league, we keep 4:

C - Geovany Soto
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Chase Utley
3B - Michael Young
SS - Troy Tulowitzki
OF - Andre Ethier
OF - Nick Markakis
OF - Hunter Pence
Util - Josh Willingham
B - Brett Gardner
B - Scott Podsednik
B - Ty Wigginton
DL - Jacoby Ellsbury

SP - Clayton Kershaw, Jair Jurrjens, John Lackey, Clay Buchholz, Jonathan Sánchez,
RP - Brian Wilson, Ryan Franklin, David Aardsma, Brad Lidge, Kevin Gregg
DL - Brandon Webb, Brad Lidge

I could use another pitcher, but Haren might not be the answer, considering his early struggles. Ideas, everyone? Leave a link while posting so I can help back.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I'm with you, I would probably move away from this trade. Haren has struggled so far this season, and we all know he's a notoriously bad in the second half. I'm also not 100% sold on Garrett Jones. I'm sure he'll put up good numbers, but you can probably get the same, if not better from Ethier, and can always either add a SP from the wire or trade for a cheaper one.

I would not make that trade. Hang onto A.Ethier.

I have Ethier in my League. I play in a 10 Team League that has 4 Keepers per team. I had Ethier has 1 of my Keepers from last season. Ethier is off to a great start and he plays on a lineup that produces Runs.

I have G.Jones and he is decent. D.Haren is off to a bad start. Just not enuff value for Ethier.

I like Either as well. Haren has been shaky up to this point so stick with what you have.
