Sizemore and Hamels -whir-

Postby Darth Danielus » Thu Apr 22, 2010 5:56 pm

A guy in my league has sizemore and hamels on the block.... I could really use a boost in speed, and I was wondering what people thought of grady's chances of returning to some semblance of his former self.....
10 team yahoo roto keeper (6x6 - ops and qual. starts added)

The guy initially proposed

hamels
sizemore
FOR
j. santana
ichiro (unkeepable)

On the surface, it seems like a good deal for me -- but both of us are serious contenders, so I don't really wanna trade my present for my future, if you know what I mean.

Thoughts? He's offered to add a bit more, or perhaps replace ichiro with another outfielder (I have dunn, c. lee, soriano, wells, ichiro, bruce (unkeepable) to choose from.)

Thanks in advance. Leave a link and I'll help in return if I can.

Thanks for the response. Not sure what the rest of your pitching staff looks like but I like Santana more than Hamels. Although that Phillies offense behind a lefty is very potent. I'm very low on Sizemore, especially since there isn't much offense to surround him. I like Ichiro more for speed then Sizemore. Seems like a flat trade and you'd be giving away an ace for an ace that hasn't had his stuff in a while.

I tend to agree... What if it was basically santana and filler for those 2 guys?
My starting pitching is pretty strong -- sabathia, beckett, santana, cain, brett anderson....

Thanks...

If you can swap Ichiro out for Wells or Dunn, then I'd say go for it. Wells is bound to start declining, unless he's found his form again and Dunn may hit for power, but he doesn't hit for avg. Santana in a keeper is more proven then Hamels though I'd say.

If you want speed and are competing this year, I do not see the point. Ichiro and Sizemore are a push for speed (I actually think Ichiro has more potential). Hamels and Santana are close enough but I do think Santana is back to form. Therefore, I'd probably pass unless he comes down off of ichiro for another OFer.

Ichiro will steal more, so I think it's a pointless trade. Santana SHOULD have better numbers than Hamels...or at least be close enough not to matter.
