Dumping C. Quentin

Postby woodson_28 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 10:49 pm

Trying to decide if I should cut bait w/ Carlos Quentin, or just ride out his slump. I really don't need a power guy, w/ a low BA that is injury prone.

10 team, Keeper league. We keep 8.

H2H, 7x7 w/ the standard 5x5 + OPS, Hits and K/9, QS.

I like to stock pile SP, and usually only carry one extra bat. Quentin is that extra bat, and he's becoming useless.

Here are some options on the waiver wire, that I consider to be better:
Soriano (OF)
Damon (OF)
N. Morgan (OF)
Gutierrez (OF)
Coghlan
Maybin
Callaspo (thinking of dropping Lopez for him)

or some pitchers:
L. Hernandez, Fister, J. Pineiro, R. Wolf, Lowe, Dotel, Dice-K, K. Wood

Thoughts?

my team:
C: Soto
1B: Pujols
2B: Lopez
3B: A.Rod
SS: Tulo
OF: Cruz, J. Upton, Heyward
UTIL: Prince (1B)
BN: Quentin (OF), Montero (DL - C)

SP: Marcum, Galladro, Hanson, Carmona, Kershaw, Price, Hamels, Peavy, Kazmir
RP: Wagner, Qualls, Capps
DL: Webb

I'd still hang on to him. Other options are not that much better, the upside of Quentin is better then anything available. PLUS the kicker you don't even need him at the moment your roster is healthy and SOLID. ;-D

I understand where you're coming from because I dropped him last week for the very same reasons you mentioned in this post. Quentin has a huge upside, but his average is low and he's definitely injury prone. Maybin is off to a hot start and I personally hope he keeps it up since I'm a Marlins fan. However having said all that, you may want to wait a couple more weeks before you make a move to see whether ol' Carlos starts heating up. Hope that helps!!

What are your thoughts on my post?

Ya I have a feeling Carlos is going to heat up with the weather. Id wait it out a few more weeks before cutting ties.
