Big Z to the pen! Now who to add? WHIR

Postby sha » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:23 pm

With the move of Carlos Zambrano to the bullpen, i feel like i need to make a move. We don't carry a bench so i pretty much have to drop him (maybe if he goes back to the rotation i can get him back). Available arms on the WW inlclude: Pelfrey, Pineiro, Marcum, Jaime Garcia. We get 12 pts for a W and 1 pt per K, 5 pts for CGs and SHOs. I am leaning toward Pelfrey right now. Pineiro is a nice possibility too. I am not too thrilled with the idea of adding Garcia with him possibly getting skipped in the rotation from time to time. who do i add! i'm assuming zambrano will be in the pen for a while so probably not worth burning the roster spot.
Once again options are:
Pelfrey
Pineiro
Marcu
Garcia

This sounds short term so I'd like at these pitchers next four or five matchups

I dont like Piniero's (NYY, DET, BOS, TB)
Marcums isnt much better (BOS, OAK, CWS, BOS)
Pelfreys is so-so (ATL, PHI, SF, WASH)
Garcia (SF, ATL, PHI, PIT)

In a standard league Id say hold on to Big Z but not when Wins are 12 pts.

Id rank them
Pelfrey
Marcum
Piniero
Garcia

I would have them in the same order
Pelfrey
Marcum
Piniero
Garcia

Pelfrey is on fire right now. I like Marcum just have to watch him against Yankees and maybe TB

Take Pelfrey. Pitching in a pitchers park, he has always had a plus fastball/sinker, he just needed to command and develop his secondary pitches. He has started throwing a nasty splitter and is mixing in a curveball as well. These secondary pitches will also add to his K numbers. He could win 15 games....

What do you think of this deal? Thanks in advance!

Gotta agree with the above posters. Pelfrey would be my guy. If wins weren't weighed as strongly, I would be tempted to go with Marcum.
