Verlander trade

Postby hairball » Wed Apr 21, 2010 5:25 pm

I'm in a 12-team h2h league, and my roster is *heavy* on excellent starting pitching (Lincecum, Verlander, J. Sanchez, C.J. Wilson, D. Braden, S. Marcum, Colby Lewis). I'd like to trade for a big bat that can ideally help me in 2-3 key categories, HR, R, and SB. I've identified Nelson Cruz and Mark Reynolds as my prime targets.

The trade that I'd like to do would be something like Verlander+Marcum for Cruz or Reynolds. What do you think?

Thank you.

Reynolds will help you with HR, RBI, and some in SB. OF is always a little deeper and I am not sure it would be worth it to make the deal for Cruz. It depends on how deep a league this is. I think it is an okay deal as I am not sure how valuable Marcum is in a 12 team mixed. But the questions do depend on who your current 3B is that would be replaced and who the pitchers are that would replace Verlander/Marcum.

For either Reynolds or Cruz, I wouldn't make this offer; I'd see what can be added, and then I'd consider accepting this (Reynolds) from a counteroffer.

Help with mine:

I'd make my current 3b, Pablo Sandoval, my 1b, and I wouldn't lose any hitters. I'd use the open roster spot for bringing in Brad Lidge. As far as starting pitchers, I listed them in the first post. I think I'd be fine. I've got an eye on a few FA's in my league if needed.
