He has performed about as well at the plate in his career as Soriano did last season. With the amount of money they're paying him I'm surprised they didn't ask if he would consider a platoon in left field. I wonder if Yahoo would let me start getting his offensive stats that way... At least then I could have wasted my 13th round pick on a mediocre outfielder rather than on a setup(?) guy.
Eventually one of Carlos Silva, Randy Wells, or Tom Gorzellany, none of whom have great peripherals, are going to fail, and Z will be back in the rotation. However, this whole drama might take a toll on Z mentally, which is what I would be afraid of.
In the one team I have him, I am holding, mostly because I don't really have a choice (pay to drop), but also he will A) be a good reliever, and B) get his job back. The jury is still out on if he will want to play for the team at that point though.

Okay, none are "great", but Wells's peripherals look fine to me. I don't think he's even in the discussion as far as losing a rotation spot.

"Yeah, that's what [Cubs manager] Lou [Piniella] said, that's what we agreed [upon]," said Zambrano, who was moved to the bullpen last week and threw 1 1/3 innings on Saturday. Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Tuesday that Carlos Zambrano will throw three more times in long relief in preparation to return to the starting rotation...
