I need a closer

Postby prguy1979 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:35 pm

In a 17 team auctions and rotisserie keeper league, categories are.....BA, BB, R, RBI, SB, SLG, ERA, HD(Holds), K, S, W, WHIP.....I need a closer bad...im in 1st place overall but in 13th place in saves....I have been offered Heath Bell for Casey McGehee.....should I pull the trigger? I currently only have Leo Nunez as a closer. Should I pull the trigger or waited out? I also have Mike Gonzalez on my bench but I dought he ever gets his closer job back.

I would not trade any bat for a closer, especially one that has upside like McGehee. These guys change like the wind.

Are either of these RP "next in line guys" available in your league?

Juan Gutiérrez (Ari - RP)

Burke Badenhop (Fla - RP)

Can you help me out?

I have Nick Massett, Rafael Betencourt and Mike Guerrier as my RP'ers....unless something happens to Rouch I dont see anyone else getting that closer role. Im leaning toward waiting it out a bit and seeing if something else develops on the closer side of things.

Agreed. Closers are like ninjas, they come out of nowhere. Dont panic, just scour the WW and im sure you can find some very viable "vulture" saves.

In a deep league like 17, you better get a closer, and fast. They're very rare. Teams have on their roster the setup guys too. If you can get Bell, take it tonight. If you have room to let McGehee go, do it. perhaps you can get his starting 3B in the process. Then you can trade Gonzalez when he's closing again?

I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. McGehee is nothing special IMO. You should be able to replace him easier on the waiver wire than find a closer on the waiver wire.

I'd do the deal. Casey shouldn't blow anyone's socks off this year and Bell is one of the better closers in the game. You seem to be pretty desperate for saves.

I'd make the deal. Closers are hard to come by. Most guys don't want to trade them period. If you're being offered Bell for McGehee, do it. I disagree with some of the comments here though on McGehee's value. He's been great so far this season. Will it continue? No one knows. But he's been a very valuable fantasy piece so far. In ESPN leagues, he's got 2B and 3B eligibility, a definite plus.
