Is it too soon to panic? AND a trade offer...

Postby rails80 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:41 pm

So my team can't seem to buy a W. I don't know if I'm overreacting and should just ride it out or if I should trade a closer for a SP...we have a 1500 IP limit.

For instance:
Sun 4/18
Kershaw, 7.0IP, 9K, 1.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP - no W
Sat 4/17
Peavy, 7.1IP, 3K, 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP - no W
Buchholz, 5IP, 7K, 0.00 ERA, 1.40 WHIP - no W
Thur 4/15
Happ, 5.1IP, 0.00 ERA, 1.69 WHIP - no W

Ah, venting over. Should I make this trade?

I send: Mark Reynolds, Jayson Werth, Josh Johnson, David Aardsma
I receive: Martin Prado, Delmon Young, Dan Haren, Scott Feldman

My first reaction is no...but is it worth pursuing a counter offer? I'm not used to be so far out of Ws and Ks...

12 teams, 5x5 roto - no bench
C - Wieters, Doumit
1B - Votto
2B - Utley
3B - Reynolds
SS - Y Escobar
MI - Iwamura
CI - Beckham
OF - Ellsbury, Werth, Quentin, Blanks, Willingham
Util - Pierre

SP - J Johnson, Kershaw, Peavy, Happ
RP - Aardsma, Franklin, Capps
P - Buchholz, Braden, Matsuzaka
DL - Bedard, Fuentes

I'd def say no to doing that trade; i think with some patience you'll be a little better soon.

you lose Johnson to get Haren which doesnt do you a whole lot of good imo. So essentially you gain Feldman; meh

your first reaction is right, i wouldnt even consider an offer that bad...you are giving up 3 players who are top 8 at their position and getting only 1 player who is above average...dont panic yet its only week 3

BUMP - I passed on that other offer but just received this one:

My David Aardsma for his Tim Hudson

The biggest problem I'm running into is that I have Fuentes, Dice-K and Bedard on the DL. As these guys come off, I have to drop a P. It would be Braden. So essentially, this deal is Aardsma + Braden for Hudson.

In a perfect world, I'd move a closer and a bat for an upgraded bat instead of a lateral pitching move. Hmm...does that make more sense?

That first offer was horrible. I'd wait at least another week, probably two, before panicking on that cat. Wins are too volatile, and at least most of your pitchers are on solid teams. I'd think the wins will come.

Yeah - I've had decent peripherals, just no Ws to show for it.

What about the Aardsma for Hudson? Or should I try to go after a bigger bat? Maybe package Reynolds with a closer for a Longoria type?

I'd hold off on the Aardsma for Hudson deal, see what Braden and Dice-K do before you trade away a useful part for a midtier guy. If you could get Longoria for that sort of offer, absolutely do it, but I'm sceptical.

Thats a terrible trade offer. So no, don't make the deal. I wouldn't fret over W's yet. Just hope the BoSox start winning soon. Buccholz and DiceK should get you a few :)
