Batting before the pitcher today. A sign of things to come. Was a solid breakout/4th OF I thought. Any Cards fans, or anyone else, got any info if this will be his normal batting spot?

He's awful against lefties and he's playing one of the best lefties in the game today, could be why he's down there today.

he's bad against lefties but Santana tears up righties, too, so LaRussa decided to not go with the L/R split and put Rasmus at the bottom of the lineup and kept his glove in center.

You probably can count on him still getting platooned a bit against left handers. Part of that is LaRussa, part of that is Rasmus still not catching up with left handers like he was in the minors yet.

He still is. It's less than two weeks into the season. If anything you're encouraged by his start because he has a nice K/BB ratio and has shown flashes of power. The average will bounce back up in time.

I see it as progress. Last season Rasmus doesn't sniff the starting lineup against a stud lefty like Johan. In their 6 games his week, STL faced 4 lefties, Johan, Ollie-P, and Wandy, and Wolf (going baskwards). I think Tony started Rasmus in everyone of them except the Wolf game. Last season he would've been fortunate to start more than one of the four.

I hope you're right. I'm starting to get concerned. I am hoping for big things from Rasmus this season. I had targeted him in my draft.

That would be unreasonable panicking. It's week 2 folks. WEEK 2!

Through 4 ab tonight (likely his only of the game)

.167 BABIP
.313 IsoP (that's MASSIVE)

Yes, the 35% K rate is scary, as is his atrocious atrociousness vs. lefties, but to give an idea of how small the sample size is so far, if he had 3 lucky balls fall in for bloop singles so far this year, instead of having a .167 BABIP, he'd have a .333 BABIP, and instead of hitting .167 with an .866 OPS, he'd have a .281/.439/.594 line.

Even if he only had 2 extra balls fall in for singles, he'd have a .278 BABIP and a .977 OPS.

His upside is huge. Don't give up.
