2010 Minor League Thread

Hey guys I haven't been around the minor league section much during the offseason. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to keep track of some of the names who are having good seasons. Also last year I organized a mock minor league draft for the June draft on the cafe and we did a write up on it. I'm hoping that this year we will be able to do the same thing going through the first couple of rounds.

Justin Smoak AAA- .300 Avg 2HR 10BB 3SO Smoak is showing the power he has early on this year. He also has a 25% BB rate.

Jesus Montero AAA- .273AVG 0HR 2BB 5SO. The power hasn't been there yet but it is early. Montero is only 20 years old and playing in AAA. Look for him to be in the bigs during Sept.

Stephen Strasburg AA- 7.1IP 6hits 11K 2BB 1.23 ERA 1.09 WHIP 0HR allowed. There was a report out of DC that Stephen would likely only pitch about 120 innings this year. I would imagine he will be used in the bullpen to start this year.

Mike Stanton AA- .333 AVG 2HR 9BB 11SO walking at 28.2% but K% 23.1 The increased BB rate looks fantastic but stanton needs to cut down on the SO. He is one of the minors biggest power threats.

Carlos Santana AAA - Has a slash line of .414/.514/.897 after 8 games. Half of his 12 hits have been for extra bases (2 doubles, 4 HR). Even stole a base a couple games ago.

I was thinking to pickup Stanton and stash him...but where will he play this year? I dont see him getting full playing time between Coglan, Maybin and Ross.

Stanton has hit 5 HRs in the last 2 games to go with 7 for 8 abs, 5 runs and 11 rbis!

So far he is hitting .338 18/9/20 with 17 walks to 18 Ks.

I really hope they do not rush the kid.. I think Stanton needs to spend the whole year in the minors with a call up in September.. This guy could be really special..

I couldn't agree more. I have him in a dynasty league and while I would love to have him up already, I am more concerned with his long-term potential then any instant boost he could possibly give me now.
