Yeah, I'd like to know as well. I remember protesters rioting in the news when Vancouver hosted the Olympics in 2010. Does the city boast a reasonable anarchist population or what?

any town that brags that it's the cleanest and prettiest within 10,000 miles is obviously Pleasantville

I asked why, unaware of the occasion that there was this all-important hockey game going on, until I saw the news. Sorry, on this side of the water, we're relatively oblivious about ice hockey.
I've visited Vancouver before and it's a nice city. The natural surroundings are spectacular, weather is nice by Canadian standards (so I'm told), and you can find good food at any price range just about anywhere. Problem is, I view Vancouver as Canada's own San Francisco without the heart and character. It's a fairly drab, uninspiring place in terms of culture, nightlife, and architecture. For a diverse city, I find Vancouver to be surprisingly xenophobic.
I heard a Vancouverite on the news explain that it was mostly non-hockey fans but I didn't hear an explanation as to how they got all the Canucks jerseys on them.
