The intricacies of the 2 for 1 trade (WHIR)

Postby OldManRigney » Fri Apr 16, 2010 12:58 am

Hello Cafe! Lurker here seeking some advice:

I'm looking to take advantage of a situation where another owner desperately needs SP and has unnecessary strength at 1B. Please be aware that my league's settings are non-standard and reward OPS types heavily.

10x10 H2H 12-team redraft, daily rosters

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3x OF, 2x UTIL

H, R, HR, RBI, SB, BB, TB, AVG, OBP, SLG
IP, W, CG, SV, ER, BB, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

My team:
C: Jeff Clement
1B: Prince Fielder
2B: Rickie Weeks
3B: Kevin Youklis
SS: Stephen Drew
OF: Matt Holliday
OF: Adam Dunn
OF: Carlos Quentin
Util: Nick Johnson
Util: Brad Hawpe

BN: Conor Jackson
BN: Kyle Blanks
Dl: Miguel Montero

Justin Verlander
Ubaldo Jimenez
Jon Lester
Matt Garza
Jake Peavy
Johnny Cueto
Tim Hudson

Billy Wagner
Francisco Cordero
Takashi Saito
Daniel Bard

How much pitching strength (2xSP) is reasonable to give up in attaining Teixera? Peavy + Verlander would probably land him, he has rejected Peavy + Lester and Verlander + Nick Johnson. His current offer stands at Lester + Garza (who I'm quite high on). Possible waiver options include Brad Penny, Cla Buchholz, Justin Masterson and Barry Zito

WHIR, many thanks to those willing to help out.

I really dont think it is worth going after him at this point ,after he has already declined your other offer.IMO your pitching isnt strong enough to go after Texeria, sorry!
If there is baseball in heaven!!!! Be very aware of the starting lineup

I think I have to agree. Your initial offers looked like good trade options for you, but since he declined, I just don't think your pitching staff can take the hit that would be needed to land Teix.

I'd wait another week or so & hope he still slumps and try for the same offer that was just declined.

Thanks for helping with mine.
