Rodney & Frasor for Wilson, WHIR

Postby saemick » Fri Apr 16, 2010 12:55 am

I'm trying to get a solid closer and think I can swing a Rodney & Frasor for Wilson b/c this is a pretty deep league that includes HOLDS and the other team has no set-up guys.

That being said, there is NO reason I shouldn't pull the trigger on this one, right?

My only thought is that LAA is notorious for providing closers with a TON of save opps, and with Frasor being demoted to the setup role, he might actually be MORE valuable as he will not get holds.

here's my roster:

12-team 6x6 H2H Yahoo! NON-KEEPER league (includes HOLDS)
c: Doumit
1b: Miguel Cabrera
2b: Cano
ss: Stephen Drew
3b: David Wright
IF: Chris Davis
OF: Sizemore, Granderson, BJ upton
Utl: Carlos Gonzalez
BN: E. Cabrera, Heyward
SP: Hamels, Nolasco, James Shields, Scherzer, J. Sanchez, Buchholz, Slowey
RP: Bell, Neftali Feliz, Rodney, Frasor, Joba
DL: Wood, Mike Gonzalez
Stat categories: Hitters: R, HR, RBI, SB, BA, OPS Pitchers: W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, HOLDS

Get Wilson. He'll likely post very solid numbers and get plenty of saves from a contending Giants team that is staff-heavy. The extra roster space is gold and you can use it to pick up a holds RP.

I'd get Wilson. Pegging saves always seems easier than holds. I'm a big Wilson fan. Always puts up good saves numbers and I always seems to own him in some league every year.

I love that trade for you. Wilson will have more long-term stability in netting you saves, and good HLD guys are a dime a dozen.

Scott Downs will get setups...DO IT! Wilson is a big upgrade over BOTH guys (Fuentes back next week...)

Do that in a second. 2 non-closers for a closer is a good deal, almost every time. (yeah, yeah, I know - Rodney is closing FOR NOW)
