Ok so I'm in sort of a dilema. Guy is eager to trade with me, willing to give up stars now for stars of tomorrow. This league has been around for 8 years now, so its not going anywhere.
Trades proposed to me:
I Give: Adam Lind and Carlos Santana
I Get: Matt Holliday and Coles Hamels
I Give: Adam Lind and Pedro Alverez
I Get: Jason Bay and Cole Hamels
My C situations is Bengie Molina and Carlos Santana, my 3B situation is Chone Figgins and Pedro Alverez. Which deal do you like better?

That is a tough one. As a Tribe fan, I have been following Carlos Santana for awhile and I'm definitely a fan.
If you execute either trade, I'd pull the string on the first one.
Holliday will have several years of success and Hamels will continue to be Hamels ... not overpowering but not awful.
Your catcher situation is little thin, which I'm sure is giving you pause. Are there any other up and comers available? Like a Posey?

Nah all of the big names like Posey, Santana, Ackley are all gone. Pretty much the best catchers of the future available are:
Tyler Flowers
Max Ramirez
Bryan Anderson
Jason Castro
Hank Conger

I would definitely do the Holliday/Hamels deal. I think Hamels will have a nice year eventually and Holliday is better than Lind. Plus I like Alvarez better than Santana.
please help

As do I... I guess I should just ask this:
I have Bengie Molina at C, hes good for MAYBE the rest of this year, then if he doesn't get a fulltime gig elsewhere hes A. worthless and B. has already said he may retire if he doesn't. So thus to my squad Carlos Santana carries more value because of the fact he will replace Molina.
On the flip side I have a much younger and a much longer contracted Chone Figgins at 3B, thus even tho I DO say Alvarez has more value then Santana, to my team because of the situations that are sitting infront of these 2 on my current squad Alvarez's value is a bit less then Santana's.

I don't like either deal... I know Lind is going to be DH only but I like him better than Holliday (and Bay even more) down the line... shoot even last year Lind had better slash numbers. The only thing Holliday may outperform Lind at is SB but it's 10-15... it's not like there isn't a lot of speed out there.
For your team, with Molina being a year to year player at this point, I'd keep Santana. I'm not sold on Alvarez... he's got a severe platoon split so far in the minors and until he can prove he can hit lefties I don't think you can count on him.
In long term keepers like this you can't go deal young hitters like Lind or prospects like Santana unless you are really certain your championship window is closing after this year and you MUST win it this year.
