Arlo, this one is driving me crazy. I can think of several things that some of these players have in common but nothing that they all have in common, unless my memory is failing me. I am going to go with each of these players was involved in a midseason trade.

Ok, I admit that this one is one of the toughest we've had on this board so far.

I don't think Bo "knows baseball" Jackson was part of a mid-season trade. At any rate this isn't quite so broad a list. In fact, this list is complete (and chronological).

It's also no coincidence that there are no entries on this list predating 1991, although you might say that its "origins" are in the 60's...

Man, the only thing I can think of is that this has something to do with surgery...

They all battled a life threatening illness to make a comeback.

You're on the right track - it does have to do with overcoming obstacles.

But in what way is this list complete? And what does it have to do with a Red Sox slugger from the 60's?

Yastrzemski disease? That's one I haven't heard yet... :-]

No, Yaz isn't the right Red Sox player, but it does have to do with something named for one...

I'm guessing they all came back from cancer, but I don't remember Bo having to do that. I remember he came back from a degenerative hip to play. Tony Saunders came back from a broken arm too.
