Upton and Bartlett for Hanley?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Wed Apr 14, 2010 8:09 pm

10 team, 18 team rosters, h2h, 8x8 cats(H, R, HR, RBI, BB, K, SB, AVG)x(K, CG, SHO, W, L, ERA, WHIP, Saves), keeper league(3 per year with no restrictions), weekly line up changes

I missed the draft and had to deal with the autodraft which turned out not bad in my opinion as I had 2nd pick and got Hanley. But, I just got offered Justin Upton and Jason Bartlett for my Hanley. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Is this enough for Hanley and should I pull the trigger?

My Team:
C-Martin
1B-Votto
2B-Weeks
SS-Hanley
3B-Young
LF-Holliday
CF-McCutchen
RF-Werth
UTI-Markakis
UTI-Morales
BN-Matsui
DL-Hill

SP-B. ANderson
SP-Felix
SP-Lackey
P-Vazquez
RP-HOffman
RP-Gregg
DL-Fuentes

Its actually a decent deal for Hanley, but theres one glarring problem I see... You already have Morales and Markakis at UTIL, so your looking at having to bench 1 out of Morales, Markakis, Werth or Justin Upton. Although thats a good dilema to have because it means your team is strong, to me I wouldn't trade 1 super stud away to run into a log jam. Only way I deal Hanley from your squad is if you get a damn nice SS in return and a big time 2B or big time 3B. Other wise your OF and UTIL are too strong to add more players.

Stay put with this one..

help me out...

He has Cano at 2B. Should I counter with Upton, Bartlett and Cano for Hanley and Weeks? Or do the deal as is or stay put?

Try to counter with that. It wouldn't hurt to try it at least. But I think I would do that trade especially since Markakis isn't doing anything right now (I know he will come around but Upton would be a beastly outfielder to have).

I'd counter with that for sure. not sure I'd do the first trade for the reasons above, But I do like your counter. good luck.

Make sure to voice your reasons for making the counter. I could see the other person believing that is too much to give up for Hanley. However, if you justify it, that might make a bit of a difference: the other person might counter back with his guys for Hanley and someone he likes.

I really like this counter! You're losing the best player in the bunch, but you're picking up VERY SOLID replacements.

Thanks for the help on mine! ;-D
