I really like how you used, his number 10 I assume, for the 'i' and the 'o', very cool. My favorite part is the "ghost" render in the number 10 over his shoulder. That's the only time I'm really a fan of using multiple renders, that is when the two renders are different.
All that said it does seem a little on the dark side, but that's just me, I'm going through a "bright" phase right now.
Good work man.

Everything on the right side is part of the Barcelona jersey or shall I say, a big part of it.

The right-hand part is the Barcelona badge and the Unicef logo is the shirt sponsor. The majority of soccer teams abroad sell sponsorship rights on their shirts, but in Barca's case, the club donates a portion of each jersey sale to Unicef. The badge on top of the heart signifies the FIFA Club World Cup champions won last December and in fact, the badge on Messi's sleeve on the primary render is the '09 European Cup champions logo.
This is how the jersey looks:

The cool thing, also, is I used the same font or a replica font used as letters/numbers for the Barca shirt too. I didn't bother outlining it in gold, just like the Barca shirts, but it's good enough:

Lionel Messi is pretty much the best soccer player on the planet right now. He won the Ballon d'Or (de facto award for world's best footballer) and he's pretty much on track to win it again (depends on this Summer's World Cup though). 40 goals in 44 games played in all competitions.

As for the sig, I agree it's a bit dark, but as I kept playing around with it, I thought the colors stood out better as a darker blue and maroon shade (verging on a purplish red). I did a subtle cartoon effect which also darkened the ripples of the shirt. This is the darkest toned sig I've done, which is in contrast with what I've worked on before and from most Cafe sigs, which tend to be on the bright, well-blended side.
Anyhow, thanks for the comments. Glad you liked it.
