I'm really starting to stress the starts of some of my players. Do I give them some time to come around, or is time to start making moves? My pitchers are off to a TERRIBLE start and my bats aren't doing much better.
12 teams, 5x5 roto with no bench.
C - Wieters, Doumit 1B - Votto 2B - Utley 3B - Reynolds SS - Y Escobar CI - C Davis MI - Beckham OF - Ellsbury, Werth, Quentin, Reimold, Blanks OF - Gardner
SP - J Johnson, Kershaw, Peavy, Happ RP - Aardsma, Fuentes, Franklin P - Capps, Buchholz, Braden DL - Sheets, Dice-K
Trade 1: I send: Ryan Franklin I receive: Andy Pettitte
Should I counter with Capps instead of Franklin? Or will my SPs come around and stand pat playing the waiver wire game?
Keeping in mind there is no bench, it usually makes sense to pick up producing players. With that said, the bats in bold are players I'm thinking of cutting ties with. Replacements could be:
Adrian Beltre (CI), Josh Willingham (OF), Jose Guillen (OF), Austin Jackson (OF), Wil Venable (OF)
I'm thinking, drop Davis and add Beltre. Then I can drop Reimold and pick up Willingham.
In terms of pitching, I would stand pat. I have to believe in Johnson and Kershaw. I like Andy Pettitte, but I don't think he will solve your problems in pitching.
I also like the idea of moving a closer. In a 12 team league, I don't think you need to carry 4 closers to be competitive in saves. Maybe you could package one of the closers with something else to get a better SP.
Thanks! The guy pulled the trade offer off the table. Wasn't going to accept it anyway. I updated my trading block to show that I'm looking to move a RP and get a SP. We'll see.
This is a non-keeper, so I only need guys who can help now. As for available CI or MI (I can move Beckham to CI): Beltre, Rolen, Kouzmanoff, Scott, Sanchez, Huff, Inge, Barton ... Theriot, F Lopez, Guzman, Schumaker, E Cabrera, Sizemore, A Escobar, Iwamura, Pennington, Ellis
Some other OF: Hart, Rowand, Pierre, Snider, C Guillen
I would drop Reimold, Keep Davis and pick up Hart who has been hot and will have his starting job back for good pretty soon. Reimold was an abberation in my mind last year and he has to compete with Pie. He has talent but I would rather have Beltre or Hart on my roster than Reimold at this point.
