Need replacement 2B... K. Johnson or I. Desmond?

Postby pnoozi » Mon Apr 12, 2010 9:09 pm

Yahoo!, 10 teams, head-to-head

Here's my team:

C B. Molina
1B R. Howard
2B A. Hill (DL)
3B M. Reynolds
SS M. Tejada
OF G. Sizemore
OF M. Ordonez
OF Rajai Davis
Util M. Cabrera
Util C. Pena
BN C. Lee
BN N. Swisher

SP M. Cain
SP Jered Weaver
SP C. Zambrano
SP Z. Duke
SP R. Harden
SP J.A. Happ
SP T. Wakefield
SP A. Harang
SP S. Kazmir (DL)
SP E. Bedard (DL)
SP D. Matsuzaka (DL)
SP J. Blanton (DL)
RP J. Papelbon
RP F. Cordero

Hill just went on the DL, and let me tell you, it hurts. As you can see, I already had 4 players on the DL, and Hill makes 5. This is bad considering my league only allows each team 3 DL slots. Right now I have Hill and Kazmir clogging my bench.

My options are extremely limited - I. Desmond and S. Sizemore have been mentioned in other threads. I'm pretty desperate here, but I'm not willing to trade. Any pickup ideas for players you think would be available in a 10-team league?

If you say Desmond, please explain why. I've looked at his 2010 game log and his career stats and NOTHING stands out.

First off - in a 10-teamer I don't think I'd burn a roster spot on dice-k, blanton oreven bedard. Perfectly fine stashed on the DL, but when you run out of room, time to let go.

Are those really the only 2 options at 2B? I'm in a 10-team league, and I'm pretty sure there are several better options then that if needed (though I'm sure the hill-owner will grab one of 'em up.)

I'll find someone to drop. And no, of course those aren't the only two guys. Any clutch ideas?

I was thinking Felipe Lopez, but La Russa can't seem to make up his mind whether he wants to start Lopez or Schumaker.

Schumaker is the starter. Lopez will see AB against LHP.

Wasn't trying to be a dick. I meant, are those the only 2 decent options at 2b..? Post a bigger list of available 2bman and I'm sure folks here can suggest a decent option.

What about Scott Sizemore? He's starting at 2B for the Tigers, and this is his first year in the majors. Batting in a powerful AL lineup like that I could see him having a positive year.

What about Callaspo? Yahoo! seems to be high on him.

I. Desmond
K. Johnson
S. Sizemore
B. DeWitt
C. Barmes
A. Iwamura
O. Hudson
C. McGehee
M. Prado

Switch the following: Joe Blanton for Aaron Hill to DL.
Drop Joe Blanton for Casey Mcgehee.

He seems to be the best hitter out of those FAs. You need a good BA and some marginal production so I'd go with the 2b that can best serve your needs. Your team BA appears to be slightly low. Orlando Hudson or Martin Prado would also be good choices.

I would drop Wakefield for a FA 2 SP matchup.
Same goes for Zach Duke.
I'd probably cut Nick Swisher for another 2b to matchup (Scott Sizemore or Kelly Johnson for offdays)
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
