During an appearance on MLB Home Plate on Sirius XM on Wednesday, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said that Jimmy Rollins has "between a 2 and 1 degree" calf strain that will require a stint on the disabled list.
"He's definitely going to be out some time," Manuel told Jim Duquette and Kevin Kennedy. "How much, I don't know, but he's hurt pretty bad." Manuel used the word "tear" to describe the injury, so it's safe to say the Phillies will be without Rollins for at least two weeks, perhaps even longer. Juan Castro will take over as the starting shortstop with Wilson Valdez or Brian Bocock likely getting called up from the minors. Apr. 14 - 1:58 pm et
