Wow.... very nice at bat for Guillen. Ended up lining into a double-play because Ankiel got doubled-up at first, but a very nice plate appearance. That 12-pitch AB isn't going to show up in the box score, but it'll count for a lot if it gets them into the Tigers pen by the fourth inning.

Makes for a tough outing for Scherzer when he's got 35 pitches in through two innings and he's faced the minimum. :-°

Yeah the 12 pitch at bat was the first thing I saw when I switched on gameday.
I had to check it twice :-b

Hopefully KC don't take advantage of having seen Scherzer just last week :-o

Lol... crazy. Scherzer's allowed a walk, a hit, and a double, and he's still faced the minimum through 3.

Apparently KC has some base-running issues that need to be discussed.
(I'm watching the Gamecast, haven't seen the two double-plays yet).

Yeah, I hesitated for a few seconds before starting him today as well... until I remembered that it's still KC.

If he gets lit up he gets lit up, but there's very few "matchup guys" that won't get started against KC, no matter when the last time they saw him was.

I know this is nit-picking, but you'd think a K machine like Scherzer would put up gaudy K numbers against a line up as vanilla as KC.
Maybe he's still learning the AL. :-?

Yeah an unassisted double play on someone standing at 2B. Where did Betancourt think he was going? :-b :-b

Another long AB, by Callaspo this time, 9 pitches. 60 pitches down and still in the fourth. I suppose that's not all bad. He could still get in 7 with luck.

Yeah... not sure about that. He's obviously throwing a lot of pitches, but seeing them get fouled off consistently doesn't bode particularly well for a lot of swing-and-misses you'd expect out of this pitcher and this lineup.

He hasn't quite got his best assortment today IMO
There have been a lot of 89s and 90s on the gun.
If he can scrape through with a 6 innings 4 run type performance, hopefully he learns something from it. :-?

Love those un-earned runs. :p
