Blockbuster Hanley Trade

Postby rasto21585 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:04 pm

I just received an offer where I trade morneau bj upton howie kendrick and ryan theriot for hanley chris coghlan mark derosa and mat gamel. I think this is a solid offer, but I somehow feel that I am getting the short end of the stick in this trade. What do you all think?

Getting the 2nd best player in fantasy without giving up any top 35 players sounds good to me.

I guarantee that there are 1st baseman out there who will be within 3-4 pts of morneau's weekly totals who you could get for a lot less. Hanley is invaluable. You are getting the best player in the deal, hands down. If you want you might consider countering with an offer that includes a slightly better OF for BJ Upton, but tbh, I'd do this.
C: Posey 1B: Votto 2B Zobrist 3B: Miggy Cabrera SS: Tulo OF Chris Davis, Martin Prado, Alex Rios U: Konerko/Hunter
SP: Lester, Peavy, Dempster, Kuroda, Matt Moore (Reserve: Beckett, Cahill, Lincecum, Hudson) RP: Putz, R Soriano

Fwi this is part of a 3 way trade. I would first trade morneau and bj upton for miguel cabrera and chris coghlan. Then I would trade miguel cabrera, howie kendrick and ryan theriot for hanley, mark derosa and mat gamel.

Do it. You're only really losing Upton and gaining a lot.

Does the dropoff of the players I am trading away big enough for me to this deal?

I think you lose a bit of depth in the Miggy trade, but I would take that deal. I don't really think you're missing anything with Kendrick/Theriot if you swing Miggy for Hanley (I'd make the Hanley deal as well).
